Walenweeshuis/Maison Descartes
Amsterdam's national monument (currently under development)

About
This 350-year-old building is being sustainably renovated with care and craftsmanship, preserving its historically valuable elements.
Before the French government purchased the complex in 1971, the building served as an orphanage called ‘Hospice Wallon’. Until 2017, it housed the former French Consulate and Maison Descartes.
Originally known as the Walenweeshuis and located at Vijzelgracht/Prinsengracht/Eerste Weteringdwarsstraat, it is an impressive national monument in the city center of Amsterdam.
