Walenweeshuis/Maison Descartes
Amsterdam's national monument (currently under development)
Walenweeshuis/Maison Descartes building exterior, Amsterdam
About

This 350-year-old building is being sustainably renovated with care and craftsmanship, preserving its historically valuable elements.

Maison Descartes represents a beautiful addition to our real estate portfolio. The property is currently being transformed into a new office destination.

Before the French government purchased the complex in 1971, the building served as an orphanage called ‘Hospice Wallon’. Until 2017, it housed the former French Consulate and Maison Descartes.

Originally known as the Walenweeshuis and located at Vijzelgracht/Prinsengracht/Eerste Weteringdwarsstraat, it is an impressive national monument in the city center of Amsterdam.
